I currently teach K-6 Vocal/Instrumental Music for Exeter-Milligan Public Schools. The kindergarten, first and second grade classes meet 3 times a week for 25 minutes.
The older elementary students meet 2/3 times a week for 30-35 minutes.
The bands have 3-35 minutes classes each week.
Band students also have one lesson each week.
I also teach Reading Mastery, Sig 2.
I began teaching in the fall of 1992. I have taught at Shickley, Exeter, and now Exeter-Milligan Public Schools. My teaching assignments have included everything from K-12 Vocal/Instrumental Music to more specialized areas like I am now.
My Philosophy...
One of my most important tasks as a music educator is to help instill a love of music in my students. I believe EVERY student can be successful in the elementary music room if given the right environment.
However, equally important, in my mind, is to help prepare them for life after school. This includes an emphasis on responsibility, respect, and critical thinking.
